Effects of school development measures on student performance in mathematics
Since the 1990s,and particularly following the poor results of PISA-assessment of Austrian students in the core competencies of reading, mathematics, and science at the beginning of the twenty-first century,a change in the governance mechanisms of the Austrian school system can be observed. To promote quality assurance and quality improvement in schools,a shift occurred in the educational system from a centralist-hierarchic input orientation to a policy that is more driven by results, output and evidence-based approaches.
